Having taken over from his brother-in-law who started selling rugs as part of his furniture shop in the 1930s (at 119 Scrooby Road), Jim Rust Sr transformed the business to J.Rust Gents Outfitters in 1950. Jim provided the miners and local residents of Harworth, Bircotes, Tickhill and Bawtry with high quality clothing keeping up to date with the latest trends. The rugs and doormats remained a staple to the business, and as shopping centres and transport came into play, the demand for flooring overtook the need for a local outfitter. In the meantime, Jim Rust Jr left school and did his ‘Carpet Improver’ training in Leeds, the goal being to work with his dad in the flooring industry. The business evolved once more in 1968 when the father/son partnership began and remains in place to this day as ‘J.Rust & Son, Carpet & Floorcovering Specialists’.

Our family business was established in 1968! This means we've evolved and moved with the times as and when new products and flooring types have been introduced for both Domestic and Contract work. You could say we've been there from the beginning.
